Cethus in a Southamerican scientists meeting: the XIII Reunión de Trabajo de especialistas sudamericanos en mamíferos acuático


 


October 20th, 2008 – As every 2 years, the Reunión de Trabajo de especialistas sudamericanos en mamíferos acuáticos (in this case, in its XIII edition), along with the 7th Congress SOLAMAC (Latin American Society of Specialists Aquatic Mammals) took place, this time in Montevideo, Uruguay, from October 13-17th.

Fundación Cethus was there, this time presenting two posters: VARAMIENTO DE UN ZIFIO DE SHEPHERD (Tasmacetus shepherdi) EN EL SUR DE ARGENTINA (Hevia, M; Belgrano, J; Cipriano, F; Combina, J; Gutierrez, C; Torlaschi, C; Kröhling, F and Iñiguez, M) and USO DE HABITAT DE LA BALLENA FRANCA AUSTRAL (Eubalaena australis) EN EL GOLFO SAN JORGE, SANTA CRUZ, ARGENTINA. RESULTADOS PRELIMINARES (Belgrano, J; Arcucci, D; Kröhling, F; Meyer, R and Iñiguez, M).

In addition to this, Miguel Iñíguez – Cethus’ president – served as moderator of the workshop "Responsible whalewatching" in which topics such as regulations, research, socio-economics aspects and the relationship of whalewatching with marine protected areas were discussed.
