This is a news I was not prepared to give and that is the loss of a friend and colleague of the Foundation. Her name is María del Valle, but we call her Mache.
We had the opportunity to meet us in 1993, when together with her bosom friends, Marta and Cecilia, they joined Cethus. From there, she proved to be an excellent professional, very dedicated to everything she undertook, even when she could be scared by such things, but without any doubt what I most highlight of her is the great person she is.
For many years, she became one of the pillars of the foundation. All of us who are in Cethus since its beginning, participate in many campaigns with her and those who know her know that two things took up part of her heart, besides her family and friends, the Peale’s dolphins and that remote but magical and enigmatic place that is Cabo Virgenes.
She had the opportunity to study these animals for many years in different places of the Santa Cruz´s coast and one of the happiest days I saw her was the day that lying on the bow of a boat she was watching for the first time as she ever did it before one of her dolphins. That day everything was perfect to her. I never saw her enjoying a sighting as much as that day.
The circumstances of life did that she take a break from the Foundation, but she always was close, Mache never left. Last Thursday, the fate wanted her to leave us, defending something she always was clear about, her defense of life. She gave her life to save another life. From Cethus, at this moment, we want to accompany all her family, but especially Germán and Enzo.
Dear Mache, you will always be present.
Your Friends from Cethus
